Early Boxing Memory: "I was a national champion when I was 16-years-old. I won a Pan Am Games silver medal when I was 16. 88-3 as an amateur, 60 KO's."

Pre-Fight Feeling: "When I'm in the dressing room, everyone is very calm. Relaxed. I have a blank mind. I don't think of anything. (Upon entering the ring, I) just relax. Don't look for anything in my opponent's facial expression or body language. I don't think of anything, just waiting for the first bell and that's it. When I knock out an opponent, it's instinctive to me. I do not train to be a hard puncher. My punch power is natural to me. When I get in the ring I don't think about getting a knockout victory. I just think about doing a good job."

Favorite Meal: "I like a typical Brazilian meal in the morning - that is rice and black beans. If I'm training, I like lots of salads, white meat and I don't touch my mother's food [smiles]. Or I don't eat ice cream."

Favorite Ice Cream Flavor: "Coconut."

First Job: "I always went to school and I always boxed. My parents took care of me. I never worked before."

First Car: "Two years ago I got a dark silver Ford Escort."

Greatest Sports Moment: "When I go home after I unify the title (W12 Joel Casamayor). But there are bigger things to come. Now I am an idol in Brazil. (An estimated 50,000,000 people watched the live broadcast of the Casamayor fight at 3 a.m. local time.) I am on all the television programs, magazines and billboards. It's very exciting to me. I am proud of my country and am happy to bring the championship to Brazil."

Most Painful Moment: "Before the fight with Casamayor. I was having many problems, management problems. Now everything is great. But that year was very hard."

Worst Injury: "When I broke my right hand. Injured my hand and lost the fight in amateur. My biggest bad memory is when I found out my father have cancer. Really painful and really hurt me."

Favorite Movies: "Action movies, karate movies, Jackie Chan movies."

People Most Admired: "I like people to be honest and to be straght."

Favorite Athletes To Watch: "Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Vitor Belfort, Gustavo Kuerten."

Funny Boxing Memory: "The reporters often ask me, where do you get your punch power? And I tell them, it come from the mother, from breast feeding until I was five. I say she had big breasts, that she could put them over her shoulder [feigns heaving a large breast over his shoulder while laughing]."

Interesting Facts: Acelino is Brazil's first world champ since WBC 154 lb. titlist Miguel De Oliveira in 1975. Acelino has commerical endorsements for athletic shoes, shampoo, shaving cream, soft drinks and others. His wedding to wife Eliana in the summer of 2001 was televised nationally and drew record ratings.
